Two Belgian icons, one delicious collection: "Les Gourmands" by Neuhaus and Maison Dandoy

A delicate praline? Or a crunchy biscuit? Why not both combined? In an extraordinary celebration of Belgian culinary tradition, Neuhaus, the inventor of the Belgian praline, has joined forces with the legendary Maison Dandoy to launch "Les Gourmands”. This collection offers the best of both worlds, uniting the exquisite richness of Neuhaus chocolate with the authentic crunch of Maison Dandoy biscuits. This delicious assortment is a real treat for both biscuit and chocolate lovers, bringing together two iconic Belgian brands in a delightful fusion of flavours and textures.

"Our shared passion for excellence and Belgian craftsmanship in delicacies has naturally led us to collaborate," explain Alexandre and Antoine Helson, co-CEOs of Maison Dandoy.

Crafting authentic gourmandise

The "Les Gourmands" collection stands out for its authentic, yet simple symphony of taste and texture. To preserve the true essence and flavour of the Maison Dandoy biscuits, we finely grind them and blend them with chocolate to create a smooth, luscious filling. This delightful filling is then enrobed in a delicate Neuhaus chocolate shell. For instance, the Gourmand Salted Caramel consists solely of a biscuit crumble blended with chocolate and enveloped in a smooth layer of milk chocolate – pure and simple. This simplicity results in a pure, indulgent experience, where the smooth, refined chocolate meets the satisfying crunch of traditional biscuits.

"We crush our biscuits to create a fine biscuit powder, which is then supplied to Neuhaus to be incorporated into their pralines," explain the two brothers. "This allows us to use the so-called 'non-compliant' biscuits in a delicious and responsible manner."

Neuhaus and Maison Dandoy have a longstanding relationship rooted in the rich heritage of Brussels. Their historic boutiques, both situated in the heart of the city, reflect this deep connection. This collaboration is highlighted by the praline "1857," filled with Dandoy speculoos, which has been a beloved part of the Neuhaus assortment for quite some time. Beyond the praline "1857", pieces of Dandoy speculoos are also featured in one of Neuhaus' "Belgian Thins", deliciously thin nougatine biscuits.

"For this new collaboration, we have selected four biscuits: caramel biscuit, pistachio shortbread, Earl Grey biscuit, and dark chocolate biscuit," adds Maison Dandoy. "Each of these biscuits brings a unique and complementary flavour, perfect for creating delicious and original pralines."

Today, Neuhaus proudly expands the Dandoy praline family with these four delectable new additions.

About NEUHAUS

From its origins as a pharmacist to its present calling as a chocolatier, Neuhaus has always put caring for others and ensuring their wellbeing first. The family opened its first Neuhaus boutique in 1857 in the famous Galerie de la Reine in Brussels. To the delight of his customers, Jean Neuhaus cased his medicines in a thin layer of chocolate. In 1912, his grandson went one step further transforming this concept into the Belgian praline as we know it today, replacing the medicine in the chocolate casing with a delicious filling.

Neuhaus, the inventor of the Belgian praline, continues to pursue its goal of demonstrating its leadership qualities in the chocolate market by encouraging innovation and creating exciting new products with only natural ingredients.

Neuhaus and Belgium have been inextricably linked for more than 160 years - ever since our founder Jean Neuhaus opened his first boutique in the Galerie de la Reine in Brussels. Our pralines and truffles have always been crafted with consideration and respect in Belgium and we are firmly committed to upholding this tradition.
